YOUNGMI KIM
Youngmi Kim is a South Korean-born multimedia artist whose work spans painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation. Her practice explores themes of humanity, memory, identity, and imagination through a visual language that balances realism and abstraction. Often depicting human and animal figures with expressive, playful forms, Kim’s work reflects on everyday life while evoking deeper emotional and cultural narratives.
Educated in South Korea, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Korean Painting from Wonkwang University and later completed a Master’s degree in Art at Hongik University. Her artistic development bridges traditional aesthetics with contemporary visual expression, resulting in works that are at once intuitive, symbolic, and deeply personal.
Kim has exhibited internationally, presenting solo exhibitions in cities including Luxembourg, New Jersey, and Shanghai, and her works are held in institutional and private collections such as the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Korea, the Korean Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., and the Korean Embassy in Berlin.
Active both in South Korea and abroad, Kim continues to expand her multidisciplinary practice through painting and large-scale works that explore the relationship between imagination, memory, and lived experience. Her work invites viewers into a world where innocence and reflection coexist, revealing the emotional complexity beneath everyday moments.
